Scarborough and its surrounding area with the Yorkshire Moors National Park have much to offer to very visitor.

If you like cycling, then the Moor To Sea Cycle Route should be a welcome challenge. It is a long distance cycle trail linking Scarborough, Whitby & Pickering through the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. www.moortoseacycle.net
If you like walking, we have a large range of maps available charting a variety of walks. We are especially pleased to be able to assist if you find walking a little more difficult, but would still like to enjoy the scenery on foot - we have "EasyGoing" maps available for you.

For railway enthusiasts - there are the famous Steam trains running from the historic market town Pickering through the moors to Grosmont, a journey through 18 miles of natural beauty. You can also book a luxury dinner on one of the trains. Please ring to enquire! www.northyorkshiremoorsrailway.com

If you like historic places & architecture - Rievaulx Abbey 2 miles outside Helmsley & Castle Howard (halfway to York) are within an hour's reach. The Last Night of the Proms at Castle Howard at the end of August is a wonderful night out - hire a suit or turn up in a treksuit, bring your own dining table and candelabra or a camping stool - you are guaranteed to enjoy yourself. The evening is rounded up by a spectacular firework over the lake in front of the castle. www.castlehoward.co.uk

Scarborough itself is home to the Stephen-Joseph-Theatre-in-the-Round, where all of Alan Ayckbourn's plays are premiered. Shows are on all year round, but during the summer they offer a larger range of shows and matinees. We can assist you in booking tickets. www.sjt.uk.com

Scarborough Spa Complex is within five minutes' walk from the Acacia Hotel and offers a large range of musical & dance shows, something for everyone. It is also one of the major venues for the annual Jazz Festival mid September.

Scarborough also hosts the annual National Theatre Students Festival in April.
